• The report finds that current U.S. federal tax law does not adequately accommodate nonprofit news organizations. In particular, the report finds that many nonprofit news organizations may be ineligible for tax-exempt status because their distribution methods resemble those of for-profit news organizations; nonprofit news organizations that obtain tax-exempt status are often taxed on their advertising revenue; and such organizations risk losing their tax-exempt status if they publish commentary about proposed legislation.

The report makes the following recommendations respecting legal information and communication:

• Government should encourage the growth and sustainability of nonprofit news organizations devoted to coverage of state and local public affairs;
• ?[A] state public affairs network [SPAN] similar to C-SPAN? should be established in ?every state?;
• Coverage of SPANs on public television ? particularly on ?multicast channels? ? and cable television should be encouraged by the Corporate for Public Broadcasting?s offering incentives to public TV stations to carry SPANs, or by Congress?s ?reducing the leased access requirements to cable operators that give carriage or financing to SPANs?;
• State governments should allow SPANs ?to be part of the PEG [cable TV public, educational, and government channel] system,? a change that might make SPANs ?eligible for fees from local [cable TV] franchising authorities?;
• Congress should encourage local cable news coverage ?by reduc[ing] the leased access burdens for [cable companies] that carry local cable news efforts?;

"It is bittersweet to leave the Fargo Force as I have enjoyed working with the players, coaches, and staff for one of the best organizations in the USHL."

Herter led the Force to a 33-22-5 record (71 points) during the 2010-11 USHL season. The club also advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the third straight season before being knocked off by the eventual Clark Cup champion Dubuque Fighting Saints. A total of 17 players on Herter's squad this season has earned commitments to NCAA Division I hockey programs.

Herter first joined the Force for their inaugural season (2008-09), serving as assistant coach to Dean Blais and helping the club reach the Clark Cup Final. He became the third head coach in Fargo Force history on September 11th, 2010 and now becomes the third Force coach to advance to a NCAA Division I coaching role after a stint behind the bench for the Force.

"In the short history of the Fargo Force, the organization has not only established itself as a launching pad for the careers of players, but as a place to advance the careers of coaches," said Force general manager Jon Kram. "We are happy for Jason on his move to the next level."

Herter is no stranger to college hockey having enjoyed a three-year playing career (1988-91) at the University of North Dakota. The defenseman was twice named Second Team All-WCHA and twice earned a spot on the conference's All-Academic Team. He collected 119 points (30g, 89a) over 118 games and ranks fifth in all-time scoring among defensemen at the school. Herter was selected in the first round (8th overall) by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. He had an 11-year professional career playing in the AHL, IHL, and Europe and played in one NHL game for the New York Islanders during the 1995-96 season.

FreedomWorks forming rival debt commission to Obama???s group (Daily Caller)

Some Tea Party activists aren?t impressed with President Obama?s debt commission.

Countering complaints that the Tea Party movement only calls for cuts without proposing a plan to do so, the Tea Party group FreedomWorks is partnering with grassroots activists from across the country to create a debt commission to address some of the nation?s most pressing problems.

The debt commission?s parameters include balancing the budget within the next 10 years, reducing federal spending to 18 percent of the nation?s gross domestic product, reducing the national debt to no more than 66 percent of G.D.P., reducing federal spending by a minimum of $300 billion in the first year and reducing federal spending by no less than $9 trillion over 10 years.

FreedomWorks, a group that educates and mobilizes volunteer activists, announced the formation of the Tea Party Debt Commission Monday. The group had been mulling over the possibility of the commission for months, but after assessing the support from Tea Party activists over the weekend at the FreedomWorks-hosted Grassroots Boot camp 2011, the group decided to form the commission.

?We wanted to market test it with real activists to see how they felt about it, and the response was so overwhelming that we decided to launch it,? Dean Clancy, legislative counsel and vice president in health care policy for FreedomWorks told The Daily Caller. (In budget debate, one senator sees pattern of secret negotiations)

For the commission, FreedomWorks is also launching a Web site that will provide educational tools, including access to other budget plans such as Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan?s proposed budget, and simple explanations of the information provided for those who do not have time to read all the documents themselves.

The Web site will prompt users to give their own ideas for solutions to the budget crisis. Clancy said that it will enable millions of Americans to vote on the cuts they prefer, something that Tea Party activists are excited about.

?I think the best thing (about the commission) is that the politicians need to listen to the people, and I think that the thing that made the Contract from America so powerful was that the people had real ideas about how to fix this country and this is the next step,? Hecker said. ?This is the people coming together and presenting a demanding budget that the politicians have to listen to.? (Tea Partiers storm NRSC offices)

Using crowd-sourcing, hearings overseen by the commissioners, and other tools such as Skype, video conferencing, conference calling and email, the debt commission will take the best ideas from the group on how to solve the nation?s fiscal problems and bring them to Congress in January. Lawmakers will be asked if they support the commission or not, and that decision will presumably influence voters on Election Day.

?I think that we?re going to see a solid, aggressive proposal to do something about the spending problems in Washington,? Clancy said. ?The politicians don?t seem to be able to do it themselves, so we will take it upon ourselves and do it for them.?

Their sandwiches are served with potato chips and a pickle.? The drinks are canned soft drinks and canned ice tea.? Garden Grill also serves alcohol ? they have beer and wine.

Self service means no tips!? In the Chicago Botanic Gardens Garden Cafe And Grille you pay for your food at the register, and you are done ? you don?t need to leave tips.? I don?t leave tips myself, and I haven?t seen anybody leave tips.

The cost for the food menu items at the Garden Grille section is around $10.? However, drinks are really expensive ? expect to pay $3 for a can of Coke!? For a lunch for 2, we end up spending $30 ? that?s with drinks and tax.? If you opt to drink water, you?ll save money :)

The best option is to enroll in some sort of group plan, such as an employer-sponsored health insurance package. These plans take anyone who qualifies and do not include pre-existing condition exclusion periods. If you cannot find a group plan, try to find an individual insurance plan that does not treat depression as a pre-existing condition and that provides adequate coverage. Although many insurance companies shy away from providing mental health coverage, you can still find a good insurance plan if you spend some time looking. This type of company does exist, but you might have to do some research.

1. Cook in Bulk. At first, the concept of cooking in bulk may seem like it would require additional work and effort. However, simply doubling or even tripling a recipe is an easy way to cook once and have several meals ready for other days. This also helps cut down on washing dishes since you only used the food processor once instead of two separate times.

Cooking is an essential task of every day life, but preparing quality, homemade food does not mean that you have to spend all day in the kitchen. By implementing these five tips, you should be able to prepare quick and easy meals that your family will enjoy.

Just like successful leaders who reproduce another generation of leaders, a great entrepreneur also creates new generation of entrepreneurs.
